Understanding Public and Money
Nothing but bad news for the Halos, who lost their sixth straight, eighth in nine, and 13th in their last 16 last night in the latest implosion vs. the Tigers. Detroit looks like it might really enjoy this visit to Anaheim after last night's 10-4 win, especially if Ron Washington dares again risk Reid Detmers (past two nights ERA 243.00...that's right!) out of the bullpen. Starter Jose Soriano (7.07 ERA his last three starts) is one of several losing traction in the Halo rotation. And, oh yes, Mike Trout (knee) is on the injured list again. This hardly looks promising vs. the Tigers' AL Cy Young winner Tarik Skubal, who's allowed 0 runs in three of his last four starts. Play Tigers on Run Line
Tarik Skubal has pitched into the 7th inning just once in six tries this year, but he did so in nearly half of his starts during the 2024 Cy Young campaign. He will face a lineup that strikes out far too often and has not produced against southpaws up to this point, helping solidify them as one of MLB’s worst offenses so far. The Angels have also not seen Skubal since the 2023 season and he’s a much improved pitcher since then. Backing him to record the win as well.
Tarik Skubal on the mound for the Tigers vs an inept Angels lineup and with the Halos stumbling mightily? At this price? I'll bite. Mike Trout banged up makes the Angels more vulnerable. Jose Soriano's last three starts have been very shaky. Halos .583 OPS vs lefties is fourth-worst in MLB. Not many hot bats going for them right now. They brought a 3-12 slump into play Thursday.
