Arizona's grasp on an NL wild-card spot is starting to slip, so it's an important game/series -- and you know the Snakes are eyeing some payback tonight for that World Series loss to Texas in which the Diamondbacks dropped all three at home after splitting the first two in Arlington. Arizona doesn't have to worry about Corey Seager this time around. Ace Zac Gallen is usually dominant at home. Rangers starter Nate Eovaldi has a 4.24 ERA on the road, where Texas is 11 games under .500.

Tough matchup for Eovaldi against arguably the most potent lineup in then baseball. The Diamondbacks have been white hot since the All-Star break and basically rank 1st in nearly every offensive metric over the last 2+ months. I like their chances of getting to Eovaldi and we're getting an excellent price point as well.

It's a longshot, but with wins in seven of ten, Texas hasn't yet given up its playoff hopes, though it might take winning 14 or 15 of the remaining 18 games to have any chance to make up six games in the standings. But only one game at a time, and in this World Series rematch, Bruce Bochy is happy to go with Nathan Eovaldi, whose last two starts have been spectacular (2 runs and 5 hits across 14 IP) in wins over the Chisox and Yankees. Meanwhile, more practical considerations for the D-backs aside from World Series revenge, as their spot in the NL playoff field is hardly secure.
