Understanding Public and Money
Expert Picks
Philadelphia hit the over themselves yesterday. Today, the wind is blowing out to left center and the public is all over the over. Two above average pitchers this season and each bullpen is in the top-five in regard to bullpen ERA’s. The Phillies have under in seven straight after scoring eight runs, or more, while Los Angeles has gone under in four of their last five games after scoring one run. The obvious play is the over, so we’ll take the contrarian route.
We suppose there's a risk here with the Phils if Christopher Sanchez looks anything remotely like his last effort on 4th of July vs the Cubs when allowing seven runs on seven hits, plus three walks, in just four innings of work and taking a loss in a 10-2 beatdown. At home this season, however, Sanchez has been almost untouchable, with a 5-1 mark and 1.35 ERA, and the Phils looked menacing again at the plate in last night's 10-1 win with Kyle Schwarber and Bryce Harper back to active duty. Gavin Stone also off of a rough start for the Dodgers, allowing four runs and seven hits (plus three walks) in a loss to the D-backs. Play Phillies on Run Line
