We're getting a nice price on a Phillies team that outclasses the Tigers in almost every respect. The Tigers have Tarik Skubal on the mound and that certainly explains why the price is so short, but Skubal hasn't been as pristine over his last couple of outings and now he must face a loaded Phillies lineup that has put up 24 runs over its last three games. We've also continued to see Ranger Suarez play well for Philadelphia. Taking the full game here as the Phillies bullpen also holds a slight advantage and I want to get as many innings as possible for the Phillies bats to come alive.
The Tigers probably wish they could erase these past three weeks as they have slipped from AL Central contention by losing 12 of 17. But reality is reality, and not even Tarik Skubal has been able to help, hit hard across his past two starts (6.97 ERA) when Detroit was blanked both times. Based upon last night's 8-1 Phils win, this series looks like it could become lopsided, and Ranger Suarez (10-1, 1.75 ERA, 0.89 WHIP) has posted even better numbers than Skubal this season (plus his team wins a lot more).
