Marcus Stroman has hit the wall after an amazing May into June. The Cubs have lost four of his last six and in his last start, the Cubs won despite him giving up seven runs. In his last six starts, he’s given up 28 runs. Andrew Abbott has been showing off his amazing stuff as the Reds are 8-2 behind him (both losses to the Brewers) and he hasn’t given up a run in his last two. Reds to win.
The Cubs are better versus left-handed pitching (.750 OPS to .737 against right-handers), and they rank second overall (.842) over the last 15 days, barely behind the Braves' .844 mark. But I like Reds lefty Andrew Abbott to continue his sterling run. He's working on a 17-inning scoreless streak, the Reds are 8-2 behind him, and the Cubs have never seen him. Even though this is a tough travel spot for Cincinnati, you have to like the Reds' chances versus Marcus Stroman. He has seemingly run out of gas after pitching brilliantly in April, May and June. Stroman owns an 8.00 ERA over his last six starts.
