He has given up at least four runs in four straight starts, leaving him with an 8.04 ERA and a 1.69 WHIP for the season. Meanwhile, the Padres will deploy Michael Wacha, who has a 1.12 WHIP and has allowed two or fewer runs in five straight starts.

Friday game. The Padres got out of today's win in Miami unscathed and there's a chance Manny Machado is activated ahead of Friday's series opener, but this is mostly a fade of Cubs starter Jameson Taillon as he's 0-3 with an 8.04 ERA. Awful free agent signing so far. I'll be playing the Cubs often at home most games this season and have profited nicely, but they are six games under .500 away and have lost 13 of their past 16 on the road. The Padres are 8-2 in their past 10 in series openers.
