We are basically getting Detroit +1.5 at the same price as Cleveland on the moneyline, and it's the weak link of the Guardians rotation in rookie Hunter Gaddis (0-1, 8.53), who has been knocked around in four of five career starts. The Guards are without a key reliever in Enyel De Los Santos, who is on the paternity list. Shortstop Amed Rosario isn't in the Game 1 lineup.

The starters, Cleveland's Hunter Gaddis and Detroit's Matthew Boyd, aren't likely to go deep. And once they turn it over to the bullpens, the Guardians have a big advantage. Cleveland has a 3.23 bullpen ERA, compared to Detroit's 5.46. The Guardians aren't an imposing lineup, but they do hit lefties better than righties.
