I don't trust this Boston team any more than I trust a pie to the face. Even though they have the same record, the Tigers look like a team that's starting to wake up from a long nap. Riley Greene, it turns out, might be great at this sport. Spencer Turnbull is back from a long injury layoff, and Chris Sale looks like he might be running on fumes. The Tigers are covering in 67% of my model's simulations. Regrettably, I don't have sims that tell me how many banana peels the Sox will slip on.

Already four postponements for Thursday including two games I picked, so let's do this one early as it's Detroit's home opener (doesn't appear to be in jeopardy) and Boston's first road game. The Red Sox's pitching has been horrific in the early going, including supposed ace Chris Sale, who goes here. He allowed seven runs over three innings in his season debut but avoided the loss. The books are pricing Sale like he was in his heyday. The Sox were 11 games under .500 away last year and are 1-5 in their past six series openers overall (0-2 this year).
