The Padres are only 1-8 in Blake Snell's starts this season. Snell has already faced the Rockies twice this season, and San Diego lost both games. Meanwhile, Kyle Freeland has led the Rockies to wins in both of his starts against the Padres. As John said below, the Rockies excel against left-handed pitching, so hopefully their offense will overshadow the struggles of their bullpen. Lots of value in the Rockies on the moneyline at +115 to win this series.
The Rockies have been absolutely dominating the Padres wining 11 of the last 12 games between these teams in Colorado. I was planning on staying off because the Rockies bullpen is very worked, and their lineup was a bit thin. That being said, I don’t hate a F5 play. But CJ Cron and Kris Bryant are both back in the lineup and that is big against the lefty. The Rockies are the second-best team in the league in wOBA against lefties in the past 30 days while the Padres are ranked 24th in the league in wOBA against lefties in the same time. The Padres bullpen is also ranked 24th in the league in the past 30 days in ERA, and they were rocked last night for the loss. I like the value in the Rockies here.
Guess I am in a runline mood this afternoon. The Friars' Blake Snell (1-5, 4.66) can dominate and be terrible -- often in the same game. Snell is 0-1 with a 5.06 ERA in two starts this year vs. Colorado and has a 6.50 ERA in four career starts at Coors Field. Colorado is 12-3 at home vs. the Padres since the start of the 2021 season, CJ Cron is back in the starting lineup and Kris Bryant has been activated from paternity leave. The Bryant news wouldn't have mattered the first few months as he was hitting more like Kris Jenner (first-ever Kardashian-related reference -- honestly not even sure her standing in that familial rubik's cube nor do I care -- and absolutely the last) but since being reinstated from the injured list on June 27, he has hit .340/.392/.660 with three doubles, four home runs, six RBI and four walks in 12 games. I think Rockies win but not turning down -130 on the RL.
