We took a beating on this one Friday night, but the emotions here don't trump the logic that the Rockies are still the better team and are generally a great team at home. The Royals had to lean heavily on several of their important relievers and Saturday starter Carlos Hernandez is primed to get shelled. The Royals had their fun Friday night; things turn on their head Saturday and we win the Rockies -1.5 run line at +110.
Solid 3-1 day on MLB yesterday and this was our loss -- funny how things work as I probably was more confident on this matchup than any other. Woulda bet a kidney (not that either is worth much as both are hockey pucks at this point because I eat an unusually large amount of ramen noodles for a non-college student; if Beefaroni is also bad for me I may as well pick out a funeral plot today) that Colorado would have won if you told me the Rox scored 10 runs. While today's Colorado starter German Marquez hasn't been very good yet this year, he's almost always much better at home. KC's Carlos Hernandez (7.15 ERA) isn't good anywhere. Ramen ideas/help line? Running this back after the Royals pulled off the win yesterday. It was helped by 6 unearned Royals runs that obviously ended up being the difference. The Royals bullpen is even more worked now with Josh Staumont unavailable tonight. Scott Barlow would also be pitching his third game in four nights. Frankly, Carlos Hernandez has been terrible this season with a 7.15 ERA and it won’t get any easier at Coors Field. German Marquez has struggled to start the season but he has been much better at home the past couple seasons. I think this will be a high scoring game like yesterday, but I like the Rockies to force a rubber game.
The Rockies' German Marquez has struggled immensely over the last month, going 0-3 with a 7.92 ERA in five starts. Colorado has lost his last four starts. The Rockies also had lost four in a row entering Friday night's game. My model says Kansas City wins 52 percent of the time, so you're getting strong value at this number.
