The Colorado Rockies have won three of their last four, but still are just 6-12 on the season. On Friday, they’ll face a Philadelphia Phillies team that looks to change the tide on their road woes at 1-5. The last time Vince Velasquez pitched with German Marquez opposed, he had a no-hitter going through six innings. It won’t be as effective of an outing this time, but look for the Phillies to deliver.
Search "Vince Velasquez" on Twitter and hilarity will ensue with all of the memes, gifs, etc., about how much Phillies fans hate that guy. And he is terrible with a season ERA of 4.85 or worse each year since 2017 (yet he makes millions of dollars). This year, Velasquez has surrendered four runs and walked eight -- control always has been the issue -- in just four innings. He starts for Matt Moore (protocols) on Friday. Good luck in Coors Field! The only reason I'm not taking the Rockies on the runline is because the Philly lineup is better than Colorado's. Getting the Rox at just -115 on the ML is good enough value.
The Phillies are sending out Vince Velasquez instead of Matt Moore, who is on the COVID-19 IL. Velasquez is the type of pitcher you want to bet against; this is his first start of the season, and it's coming at Coors Field. In his four career starts at Coors, Velasquez has allowed 26 hits, 11 walks and 12 runs in 20.1 innings. If you can't keep men off base in this park, you will get burned. On the other side is German Marquez, who has allowed only 44 home runs in 54 regular season starts at Coors throughout his career. I am taking the Rockies at a fair price.
