Angers has not lost a match by more than a goal since Oct. 5. The hosts have been off a week to get healthy and prepare, while a quicker turnaround for Marseille after rolling in the Coupe de France on Tuesday. In six of eight Ligue 1 home games this season, Angers has conceded a goal or fewer, collecting three clean sheets. Roberto De Zerbi will be without two of his defensive lieutenants for tonight’s fixture. The visitors are without key defenders Benjamin Pavard and Nayef Aguerd. In October, the sides played to a 2-2 draw and that's all we want here.
We've talked plenty about Marseille in the past. Mason Greenwood has been one of the best attacking threats on France and as a team, they have the second most goals scored in Ligue 1, only a single goal behind PSG. I expect Marseille to score, but Angers are a bit of a tricky side as well. This is a team who have scored in their last six Ligue 1 matches. They are fantastic at at least finding a goal, and I expect them to do so against Marseille
Marseille hosted Nantes for their first match of 2026 roaring and ready to go. They then proceeded to pick up two red cards within 30 minutes of each other and lost 2-0 to an awful Nantes side. After this, they played a cup match, where they clearly let off some steam and beat Bayeux 9-0. While I'm not expecting Marseille to score nine against another Ligue 1 side, it does look like their manager De Zerbi was quick to correct their Nantes loss. Marseille are the much better team here, and as long as they don't pickup any silly red cards, I have them winning this by 2+ goals.
