Thursday, June 15 MLB props, trends: Pirates' Jack Suwinski most popular hitter with bettors despite strong winds blowing in at Wrigley Field vs. Cubs

There is one MLB game above all others on Thursday in which wind will be a factor: Pirates vs. Cubs at 8:05 p.m. ET at Wrigley Field. The total was a very low 6.5 and is now 7 at DraftKings because winds are expected to blow straight in at about 20 mph (and it will be rather chilly). Despite the fact it will obviously be very difficult to hit the ball far in the air tonight, no player is taking more prop hitting action at the book on the entire slate than Pittsburgh's Jack Suwinski at +110 for Over 1.5 combined hits, runs and RBI.

The lefty Suwinski is a Chicago native in his second season with the Pirates. The 24-year-old appears to be a key piece of the future in Pittsburgh, which is could be pretty bright given the good young talent already aboard and the Pirates holding the No. 1 overall pick in next month's MLB Amateur Draft -- which will likely be spent on LSU slugger Dylan Crews.

In Game 1 of this series, an 11-3 Cubs win, Suwinski was 2-for-2 with two solo homers. He was 0-for-3 and didn't score in Wednesday's 10-6 loss. On the season, he's batting .249 with 15 homers, 35 RBI and 29 runs scored.

Chicago starts ace right-hander Marcus Stroman tonight and he's one of the top ground-ball pitchers in the game, so that could make it even tougher on Suwinski to cash on this prop. You aren't going to have many hits or RBI if you keep hitting the ball on the ground. Suwinski has never faced Stroman but is 1-for-1 with a homer each against relievers Adbert Alzolay and Javier Assad, both of whom could pitch tonight after Stroman.

San Diego's Fernando Tatis Jr. has two of the five most-wagered player props tonight: Over 2.5 combined hits, runs and RBIs at +105, and Over 0.5 home runs at +265 vs. Cleveland. Tatis Jr. is absolutely raking this month at .417 with five homers, 15 RBI and 12 runs scored. He's homered three times and added four steals while going 12-for-27 (.444) during his seven-game hitting streak.

In Wednesday's win against the Guardians, Tatis homered, had three extra-base hits, scored twice, stole two bases, had a walk and an outfield assist. He became the first AL/NL player in the since 1901 with that stat line. Tatis Jr. joined the legendary Tony Gwynn as the only players in franchise history to hit a homer, steal two bases and record an outfield assist in the same game.

Tatis Jr. and the streaking Padres try for the home sweep of Cleveland. Tatis hasn't seen Guardians lefty starting pitcher Logan Allen (3-2, 3.31 ERA), who has never faced San Diego.
