Between NBA and NHL playoffs along with 16 games on the MLB schedule, it's a jam-packed slate on Wednesday, April 30. In the NBA, the Houston Rockets and Los Angeles Lakers try to extend their seasons at home. The NHL has three games on the slate, highlighted by a key Game 5 matchup between the St. Louis Blues and Winnipeg Jets with the series tied 2-2.

We highlight the top betting opportunities with links to full game analysis and picks throughout the article while providing the top betting tips for today's matchups.

There is also a link to the best sportsbook offer today from BetMGM. BetMGM offers new users up to $1,500 in bonus bets if your first bet loses when using the bonus code SPORTSLINE.

Best NBA bets today

Golden State Warriors at Houston Rockets (-4, 204.5): 7:30 p.m. ET

The Warriors will try to end Houston's season on Wednesday after winning Game 4 at home 109-106. Jimmy Butler wasn't 100% but finished with a team-high 27 points to put Golden State one win away from reaching the Western Conference quarterfinals.

While Butler had a big game, the Rockets can point to free throw shooting as a big reason why they trail 3-1. Houston has missed 35 free throws in four games. Many have come in the fourth quarter, where Golden State is +15 points in the series.

The Warriors are 7-3 in their last 10 meetings against Houston, with seven of the games going under the total.

Minnesota Timberwolves at Los Angeles Lakers (-5.5, 209.5): 10:00 p.m. ET

When the Lakers traded for Luka Doncic, they probably didn't envision a first-round exit from the playoffs. Yet, we are one Minnesota win away from that being a reality after the Timberwolves took Game 4 by a score of 116-113. The Wolves outscored Los Angeles 32-19 in the fourth quarter to put the Lakers on the brink of elimination.

Minnesota being up in the series is no fluke. The Timberwolves are 20-5 since Julius Randle returned from a groin injury on March 2. If Los Angeles wants to see a Game 6, it needs to play better defensively. Minnesota averaged 116.3 points in its three wins and scored just 85 in the lone loss.

Best NHL bets today

St. Louis Blues at Winnipeg Jets (-172, 5.5): 9:30 p.m. ET

The Winnipeg Jets had the best record in the NHL this season. You know what that means in the playoffs? Absolutely nothing. The Jets find themselves in a dogfight against St. Louis, with each team winning twice on home ice.

Despite being outscored 12-3 in the last two losses, Winnipeg must feel good about its chances in Game 5. The Jets are 32-7-4 at home this season, and forward Gabriel Vilardi is expected to be available for the first time since March 23.

Winnipeg goaltender Connor Hellebuyck has struggled in the playoffs and was replaced in the Game 4 rout. However, Hellebuyck should play better at home on Wednesday, where he has a record of 29-3-3 this season.

Best MLB bets today

Arizona Diamondbacks at New York Mets (-108, 7.5): 7:10 p.m. ET

The Mets have been close to unbeatable at home this year. New York moved to 13-1 at Citi Field on Tuesday with an 8-3 win over Arizona.

Corbin Burnes will take the mound for the Diamondbacks to try and cool off the Mets. Burnes has had ups and downs this season, allowing two runs or fewer in three starts but seven runs combined in the other two. New York doesn't mind seeing Burnes on the hill. The Mets' current lineup is batting .349 against him in 83 career at-bats.

New York has won seven of the last 10 meetings against Arizona, with eight of those games going over the total.
