Best bets today: Knicks-Pacers among SportsLine's top plays for NBA, NHL, MLB for May 25

New York will try to get back in the series against Indiana Sunday

ByUpdated: May 25, 2025 2:15PM UTC . 5 min read

The Indiana Pacers find themselves up 2-0 in the NBA Eastern Conference Finals as they head home after taking two games from the New York Knicks in the Big Apple. The Edmonton Oilers got even with the Dallas Stars in the NHL Western Conference Final thanks to a 3-0 shutout Friday, and that series now moves to Canada. Both series' Game 3s are Sunday, May 25, and we've got a full 15-game MLB slate available as well. Here, we highlight the top betting opportunities for Sunday, May 25, with links to betting analysis and picks for all the top matchups.

There is also a link to the best sportsbook promotion today from FanDuel Sportsbook, which is offering new users $200 in bonus bets.

Best NBA bets today

New York Knicks at Indiana Pacers (-2, 223): 8 p.m. ET

The Pacers used fantastic shooting from Tyrese Haliburton and Aaron Nesmith to mount a historic late comeback and steal Game 1 in overtime from the Knicks. Game 2 saw veteran big man Pascal Siakam take over and score a game-high 39 points as Indiana took a resounding 2-0 series lead before returning home, where the Pacers went 29-11 this season. The Knicks were 24-17 on the road.

Jalen Brunson has scored at least 36 points for the Knicks in these first two games, but it hasn't been enough with the Pacers on the verge of forcing elimination. Karl-Anthony Towns scored 20 points in Game 2 after dropping 35 in Game 1, but New York needs more from other top players in order to get back into this series.

Best NHL bets today

Dallas Stars at Edmonton Oilers (-154, 6): 3 p.m. ET

The Oilers looked like the better team in Game 1 for the first 40 minutes as they entered the third period with a 3-1 lead, but things fell apart as Dallas rattled off three power play goals in the period's first six minutes en route to a 6-3 victory. Edmonton rebounded in Texas, though, with a 3-0 win as Stuart Skinner, who has been shaky at times this postseason, kept the Stars out of the back of the net. The series now heads to Edmonton where the Oilers look to take a 2-1 series lead as they aim to return to the Stanley Cup Final for the second year in a row, where there's a chance they can get revenge on last year's champs, the Florida Panthers.

Skinner was the hero in Game 2 for Edmonton, and while Dallas has held Oilers stars Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl to just one total goal, those two have combined for six assists thus far. Those two create the best tandem of any team in hockey, and they're more than capable of taking a game over, especially when on the power play. As for Dallas, five different skaters scored in Game 1, but Mikko Rantanen wasn't one of them, though he did have an assist. He is tied for the NHL lead in points this postseason with 20 alongside McDavid and Draisaitl in his first playoff run in Dallas. He's scored nine goals this postseason and will certainly be the top skater to watch for the Stars on Sunday.

Best MLB bets today

Arizona Diamondbacks at St. Louis Cardinals (-125, 7.5): 2:15 p.m. ET

The Diamondbacks are looking to avoid a sweep Sunday afternoon when they take on the red-hot Cardinals at Busch Stadium. Arizona has lost four in a row while St. Louis has won six of its last nine games. The Cardinals are 18-8 at home this season and will be sending Sonny Gray (5-1, 4.02 ERA) to the mound. Arizona is countering with Brandon Pfaadt (7-3, 3.81 ERA). The SportsLine model projects both pitchers to go Over on their strikeouts lines. Gray's strikeout line is 5.5 while Pfaadt's is 4.5. The model also projects both pitchers will go Over on their earned runs allowed lines, with Gray going Over 1.5 earned runs and Pfaadt going Over 2.5 earned runs.
