49ers vs. Cardinals Monday NFL odds, trends: Spread jumps with Kyler Murray expected to sit, but bettors still backing Arizona
Arizona reportedly will be without QB Kyler Murray tonight vs. the 49ers.
The Arizona Cardinals were 8-point underdogs tonight as the "home" team in Mexico City against the San Francisco 49ers, but the spread has since risen to +10 with the Cards expected to be without starting quarterback Kyler Murray for a second straight game due to a hamstring injury. Colt McCoy will get the call again. Despite that, the action at BetMGM is pretty heavy on the underdogs.
As of this writing, just 40% of bets and 44% of the money is on the 49ers against the spread. On the total of 43.5, 62% of bets and 43% of the money are on the Over. Arizona is +280 on the moneyline and taking 74% of bets and 53% the of money.
McCoy started last week and led the Cardinals to a 27-17 win over the Los Angeles Rams with 238 yards and a touchdown on 26-of-37 passing. He is set at over/under 218.5 passing yards tonight against one of the NFL's best defenses. McCoy is 11-22-1 ATS (33%) in his starting career, the worst cover percentage by a quarterback since the merger with a minimum of 30 starts. However, Cardinals coach Kliff Kingsbury is 4-1-1 ATS in his career vs. Kyle Shanahan and 3-0-1 ATS as an underdog.
Arizona receiver DeAndre Hopkins is expected to play despite a hamstring injury of his own, but fellow receiver Marquise Brown will remain out. In his first four games back from a suspension, Hopkins has totaled 36 receptions for 396 yards and two touchdowns.
The two most popular player props at the book are both on 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey: +450 to score the game's first touchdown and -140 for an anytime TD. McCaffrey has accounted for four touchdowns in three games since arriving from Carolina in a midseason trade. The third most popular prop is Niners tight end George Kittle Over 3.5 receptions. He was very quiet last time out in a win over the Chargers with just two targets and one catch for 21 yards.
