2025 Fantasy Football Strategy: How to build team with picks 5-8 in snake draft from expert
Jacob Gibbs, whose work can be found in the FFT newsletter and on Beyond the Boxscore, shares his draft blueprint for picks 5-8
Every Fantasy football draft is unique, but there are certain strategies that can help prepare to have success that are unique to the range of your first-round pick. Drafters picking early in the first round will get a blue-chip talent but must endure a long wait before getting two picks in quick succession. Drafters picking late must wait until the best options are gone and then use their first two picks wisely before the long wait to pick at the next turn.
Those with picks in the middle are able to better react to the draft as player pools at each position shift. Having a tough time deciding between two players at different positions? There's at least a chance you'll be able to get both no matter which round of the draft you're in. SportsLine expert Jacob Gibbs has put together a guide to drafting in the middle of 12-team Fantasy leagues that identifies when the ideal time is to select a quarterback and tight end along with players to target in each round of the draft.
Gibbs also has one player he prefers above all other available options at the top of the draft for a pick at No. 5, 6, 7 or 8.Â
