The 2024 Players Championship is set to begin on Thursday, March 14 at TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. The Players has long been considered 'golf's fifth major' and is the flagship event of the PGA Tour. Scottie Scheffler is the defending tournament champion, and enters the week as the 11-2 betting favorite in the latest Players Championship odds. Scheffler, who is fresh off a win at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, is followed in the 2024 Players Championship field by Rory McIlroy (12-1), Justin Thomas (22-1), Xander Schauffele (22-1), Viktor Hovland (22-1), Patrick Cantlay (25-1), and Will Zalatoris (25-1). The total 2024 Players Championship purse is $25 million, with the winner's share coming in at $4.5 million. The winner will also earn 600 FedEx Cup points.  The first groups tee off at 7:40 a.m. ET. Some of the more notable tee times include Scheffler and Thomas at 1:40 p.m., McIlroy, Hovland, and Jordan Spieth at 8:35 a.m., and Schauffele at 8:24 a.m.

Before locking in your 2024 Players Championship one and done picks, you need to see what SportsLine DFS pro and PGA expert Mike McClure has to say.

The One and Done format is growing in popularity. It has several noticeable similarities to NFL Survivor pools, with the main difference being entries are not eliminated with a bad week. Players pick one golfer per week and earn points based on their selected golfer's prize money for that tournament. Golfers can only be used once per season, and the point format makes nailing majors and big money tournaments critical.

McClure is a DFS legend with over $2 million in career winnings, and he's been RED-HOT on his PGA picks dating back to the PGA Tour restart in June of 2020. McClure uses his proprietary simulation model to analyze the field and crush his golf picks.

McClure nailed plenty of One and Done picks in 2023. At the 2023 Farmers Insurance Open, McClure's top One and Done pick, Max Homa, outlasted the entire field to take home his sixth career PGA Tour victory and $1.566 million. At the WM Phoenix Open, McClure nailed Scheffler winning the tournament, taking home $3.6 million!

He correctly called Jon Rahm's wins at The Masters and the Sentry Tournament of Champions. Then at the RBC Canadian Open McClure listed Nick Taylor and Tyrrell Hatton as two of his top one and done picks. Taylor would go on to win the tournament, while Hatton finished in third place! And finally, at the Rocket Mortgage Classic, his top OAD pick was eventual tournament champion Rickie Fowler!

This season, one of his top OAD picks was for The American Express was Justin Thomas, who finished in third place and took home $635,600, and at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am his top pick was Scottie Scheffler, who finished in sixth place after the final round was cancelled due to weather. At the WM Phoenix Open, McClure recommended OAD players use Scheffler as their pick if they hadn't done so already this season. He ended up finishing in third place, taking home $519,200. At the Genesis Invitational, McClure tabbed Patrick Cantlay, who finished in fourth place at the signature event, as his top OAD pick. Finally, at the Cognizant Classic, McClure's top one and done pick, Min Woo Lee, finished in a tie for second place.

At last week's Arnold Palmer Invitation, a signature event, McClure recommended using Scottie Scheffler (if he was available) and Will Zalatoris. The Result: Scheffler won the event by five strokes, and Zalatoris finished in fourth place.

Now, McClure has set his sights on the 2024 Players Championship and just revealed his optimal One and Done picks. They are a must-see for any player looking for an edge in their One and Done pool.

We can tell you that one of McClure's favorite One and Done picks for the 2024 Player Championship is Justin Thomas. The 15-time PGA Tour winner had an inconsistent season in 2023, but has played outstanding golf in 2024, finishing in 12th place or better in four of the five tournaments he's entered. Thomas won this event in 2021, and McClure expects him to make a strong run at the 2024 Players Championship title as well.

McClure is also targeting another golfer in his PGA One and Done picks who is listed as a 35-1 longshot in the latest Players Championship odds. Picks like these could be the difference between winning your One and Done pool or going home with nothing. You ABSOLUTELY need to see who it is before locking in your pick.
