Today's top picks: White Sox to beat the Cubs among best bets, plus more MLB, NHL Playoffs and NBA Playoffs picks for Saturday, May 28
Allan Bell is joined by Mike McClure, Alex "PropStarz" Selesnick and John Bollman on the Early Edge podcast, powered by SportsLine. Get highlighted plays for MLB, NHL Playoffs, NBA Playoffs for Saturday, May 28, and you can stream the show live every morning on the SportsLine YouTube page.
After discussing the trends and storylines, Allan jumps in with two SportsLine Plays of the Day. The first is an MLB pick. The site recommends the Dodgers -1.5 on the run line (-115) against the Diamondacks (7:15 p.m. ET). The moneyline is priced at around -180, so the run-line pick is the better value. Los Angeles has outscored Arizona 16-5 in the first two games.
The second play comes from the NHL Playoffs, and it is Over 5.5 goals in Game 6 of the Hurricanes vs. Rangers Eastern Conference Semifinals series (8 p.m. ET). The Under has hit in the first five games. "It's not gonna hit six times in a row," Bell says.Â
Mike has been on fire with his MLB picks, expecially on team totals, and he has another one for Saturday. He is taking the Royals Over 3.5 runs (-115) against the Twins (2:10 p.m. ET). McClure explains the science behind the weather conditions that make this a strong play, with high humidity and wind blowing out likely to give hitters a major boost.
Bollman has an MLB pick on the moneyline, taking the White Sox -145 against the Cubs (7:15 p.m. ET). Johnny Cueto is set to take the mound, and "he's now made two starts for the White Sox, and he's already their best pitcher." He hasn't allowed a run in 12 innings.
PropStarz has an NBA prop pick for Sunday's Celtics vs. Heat matchup in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference FInals (8:30 p.m. ET). He is backing Boston's Al Horford Over 9.5 points (-120). The big man is averaging 12.9 per game in the playoffs, scoring at least 10 in 10 of his 16 postseason apperances. "He has just come up big for the Celtics all year long," Alex says, "especially when they've need him the most. I think he'll show up big in a Game 7 in a hostile environment in Miami."
