Utah State is 0-5 on the road this season but finds themselves as a short underdog against Fresno State. The Bulldogs have overachieved in my opinion on both sides of the football over the last two weeks. Defensively they shut down Boise State to seven points, and Wyoming last week to three points. Look for Utah State off a tough double overtime loss last week against UNLV to get off to a fast start against Fresno. Take the points here with Utah State.
Fresno has impressed the past two weeks though the schedule has helped more than a bit to make the Bulldogs look good. Also injuries; Boise's offense stalled on November 1 when QB Maddux Madsen went out and the Broncos couldn't throw the ball downfield with backup Max Cutforth, while Wyo's offensive limitations last week were exploited by the Bulldog defense. The Utags present much different issues with livewire QB Bryson Barnes and a legitimate offense, and Bronco Mendenhall can get his team bowl-eligible with one more win. Play Utah State
Don't really rank picks in terms of likes but with all the intangibles that I'm seeing, rather do like this most of the early ones I have glanced at for Saturday so far (#doom). Just feels like an everything spot for Fresno State in the home finale to keep its Mountain West title game hopes alive. Utah State has no shot at that, is winless away (seven straight road losses overall) and likely looking ahead to the home finale vs. Boise State. The FSU defense has allowed fewer than than 200 total yards in B2B games for the first time since at least 1995 and has given up just 10 total points in those.
