The Florida Gators began the season as a ranked team, that quickly faded and led to the firing of Billy Napier. Billy Gonzales will now step in and look to get the Gators bowl eligible with five gams left. Even though Georgia is 6-1, they have shown vulnerability with several close wins. Take the Gators be the latest to hang around against the Bulldogs, and stay within the touchdown spread.
This isn’t the Georgia of old and they’ll also be missing their second-best receiver this afternoon. The Bulldogs passing defense hasn’t been up to Georgia standards and DJ Lagway has the capabilities to find success. The Bulldogs have won four straight and seven of the last eight against Florida and 45 straight against non-ranked opponents. However, with the Gators just firing their head coach, there could be some more motivation for this team to perform while also covering three of the last five against Georgia.
Both teams enter this game coming off of a bye week. But with that being the case, it still won't help the Florida Gators in this matchup, despite coming in with a bit of an unknown with an interim coach. Look for Georgia, over the course of four quarters, be able to withstand the first quarter flurry and continue to extend their lead en route to covering the spread.
These games have typically been high-scoring affairs since Kirby Smart took over at Georgia, and the Bulldogs defense hasn't been quite as reliable this season as in years past. Florida fired its coach, but is coming off a bye and will treat this game like its Super Bowl.
Sometimes the trends don't lie in the game formerly called the "World's Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party"...at least on paper. Georgia has scored 34 or more points (including in the 40s three times) against Florida in each of the last five meetings. The Gators have scored 20 points in each of the last three years against the Bulldogs. Sometimes it's best not to overthink things. Georgia 34, Florida 20.
