LSU’s defense has been one of the bets in the country thus far in the season. The Rebels comes in after an impressive showing against Tulane but not sure if the LSU offense will be able to keep up with Trinidad Chambliss and their passing game. The home team is also 5-0 ATS in the last five meetings between these two.
Running back Caden Durham is doubtful to play for a Tigers offense that already has struggled to score this season (75th in the country). Meanwhile the LSU defense has been lights-out this year, allowing just 9.3 points per game. I expect a tight game that is played close to the vest. Even though the Ole Mis defense has offered little resistance this season and even though coach Lane Kiffin says to "take the Over," I'm taking the Under.
While this game should be a major test for Ole Miss' rebuilt defense, we think LSU's offensive problems this season should help them. LSU's offense has struggled in all three FBS games this season and wins over Clemson and Florida no longer carry much weight with both teams at 1-3. We actually think Trinidad Chambliss gives Ole Miss a slightly better chance of winning than Austin Simmons due to his dual-threat ability.
This game will essentially come down to which offense do you trust to get points. We know LSU's defense is legit, arguably the best in the SEC. Ole Miss defense has done just enough to be competent. And while they aren't dynamic, their offense is with QB Trinidad Chambliss. The latter is who I can trust to make enough plays to secure a tight win at home.
