Understanding Public and Money
Expert Picks
This is me largely fading the public as everyone seems to like Army. Maybe the Cadets cover the spread but tough ask to win in quick-turnaround road game. ECU's Katin Houser is among the FCS passing yardage leaders. Army is one of those teams that is so limited offensively it has to play near-perfect on the road to win. And it will run, run, run. ECU allows just 87 yards per game and 3.9 yards per attempt on the ground.
Despite them not having the stellar defense they had last year, the Black Knights of the Hudson still poses a huge threat on the offensive side of the ball. In fact, what we learned about Army last week in their loss to North Texas is that it has the ability to score quickly and often. Both of which will help them keep this game under the point spread.
Surely the East Carolina coaches are none too pleased at being dealt a short week to prepare for Army’s unusual triple option offense. Most staffs would prefer a bye week before facing the Black Knights. While the underdogs are 1-2 SU, both setbacks came in overtime and they amassed more yards than the winners. This marks Army’s second road game following an upset at Kansas State in the first one. The option is clocking, with the Knights’ 301.3 rush-yard average per game ranking fourth in FBS. Their minus-four turnover margin is among the nation’s highest, contrasting with East Carolina’s plus-five. Turnover disparities have a habit of evening out.
