This should be a good spot to take Miami here with the Bulls playing their third straight game against top 25 teams. Miami has won and covered five of the last six meetings between these two, but this is also a Bulls team that are turning some heads. Miami barely escaped against the Fighting Irish, and this is a South Florida team playing with a lot more momentum as long as they can limit the penalties.
USF has beaten Boise State and Florida and owes no apologies for it but the fact of the matter is the way it's gone about it simply is not sustainable. Maybe they keep cashing lotto tickets against Miami, but given the serious mismatch along the lines of scrimmage, I doubt it.
South Florida is coming into this game with a boatload of confidence. They've knocked off both Boise State and Florida, two ranked opponents and dominated in both games. Now, with that background information, it's hard for me to see this team being 17.5 point underdogs. USF has treated every game like a playoff elimination game. Expect this to give their best effort and keep it close.
Look out for USF, full of confidence after upset wins over Boise & Florida have thrust the Bulls into Group of 5 playoff contention. We still have reservations about the Canes and new QB Carson Beck, and Miami might have been fortunate to escape its opener against Notre Dame with a W. Moreover, not sure how much can be gleaned from the romp past outclassed Bethune-Cookman. No such concerns about USF, which is riding the sort of emotional high that doesn't usually abate in September, so no letdown expected after the Gators upset. Especially with healthy playmaker QB Byrum Brown, running the Alex Golesh offense with aplomb. Play South Florida
This is a terrible spot for South Florida after upsetting Boise State and Florida to start the season. I was hoping for 16 but don't think we get there. Hurricanes' offensive line should dominate this game and wear down USF. I would back Miami up to -18.
