However, this is a tough spot against an Iowa club with a lockdown defense and a newfound offense that has scored 82 combined points in its last 2 games. Look for the Hawkeyes to pull away late and cover the number.

Don't look now, but UCLA appears to be getting hot, with two wins on the spin (both on the road). Moreover, for those who bet the Minnesota game early enough (like before Friday) four weeks ago, the Bruins are riding a 6-game spread cover streak into tonight vs. the Hawkeyes, who face UCLA for the first time in Pasadena since the 1986 Rose Bowl (won by the Bruins, 45-28). Iowa doesn't carry the same KO power on the road (evidenced by the puzzling loss at Michigan State three weeks ago), while UCLA's upgrades are traced to an upgraded ground game (over 100 YR for the first time all season last week at Nebraska), improved efforts from QB Ethan Garbers, and a suddenly-swarming defense. Iowa overs have been a bit of a wagon this year but the Hawkeyes are running into a UCLA defense that has done a good job of limiting teams like Oregon, Penn State and Nebraska below their season averages for scoring. I think the Bruins have been feisty enough to keep this game a bit lower scoring to give themselves a shot at the upset.
