While Kentucky has flashed on occasion, it struggles when playing against the best the SEC has to offer. Alabama is going to be short-handed a bit in this game, but it has been absolutely rolling and knows that it must make statements every week in order to regain its standing in the national conversation. The Crimson Tide can clinch the SEC West with a win Saturday, and while this game could get off to a sleepy start, Alabama should pull away in the second half. The Tide have won by 18+ points in all three meetings in Lexington over the last two decades.
QB Jalen Milroe is much more comfortable at the position, and has played lights out since regaining the starting position. Also, Bama is starting to peak as a team at the right time. Right now, outside of the run game, nothing from the Kentucky side of things really poses a true challenge to Bama in this one.
Alabama is rolling and playing well on both sides of the ball. Kentucky has home field advantage, which counts for something, but in the end, I think this game will look and feel very similar to the Wildcats' loss to Georgia. Alabama should win by two touchdowns or more.
Is there a potential for a sleepy start in a letdown spot after Alabama's huge home win against LSU on Saturday night? Absolutely. But Kentucky is not the team that could seize that opportunity for a big upset. The Wildcats have a great run defense that could slow Alabama's offense, especially as the Crimson Tide's passing attack might not be poised to take advantage of Kentucky's weakness on the back end. If Alabama's offense is kept in check and the Tide defense continues to dominate, we should definitely come in under the total.
