The LSU Tigers have won the last five meetings between these two teams, but this is the best Tennessee Volunteers team in a while. Quarterback Hendon Hooker has arguably been the best quarterback in the nation. He has 11 total touchdowns and zero interceptions this season. The Volunteers are coming off of a bye week after beating then-ranked #20 Florida. This will be the Tigers first real test this season. The well-rested Volunteers should be able to handle the Tigers and cover this small spread.
I think Tennessee might be overrated but this has come down to the point where I have to do it. LSU is coming off a really tough game at Auburn and listing several players as either out or questionable (really thin in secondary) while the Vols are rested and healthy.
I think Tennessee is good. I do not think Tennessee is great. I especially do not think Tennessee has achieved a status of being favored on the road at LSU. The Tigers are a missed extra point away from potentially being 5-0! It's not like they stink! Sure, they were bad last week against Auburn, but that's just what Auburn does to you. It pulls you down into the muck and it's up to you to escape. LSU did, and LSU will cover at a minimum here.
Quarterback Jayden Daniels has been the centerpiece of the Tigers' return to relevance, but mostly because of his legs. The Arizona State transfer is averaging just 183 yards passing, and managed only 80 last week in the win over Auburn. It won't be able to take advantage of Tennessee's weak spots in the secondary, and Tennessee will put it in cruise control in Death Valley.
