NEW ORLEANS BOWL -- One of the most impressive conferences in bowl season over the years has been the Sun Belt. Georgia Southern should have an opportunity to continue the conference's success against Louisiana Tech. The Eagles are powered by a ground attack that has recorded over 3,000 yards in 2020. Look for them to wear down a Bulldogs defense that surrendered over 34 points per game this season. Grab Georgia Southern.

This matchup carries a sub-50 total, a rarity for the postseason. The reason is quarterback injuries. Tech goes without its main man, Luke Anthony. Southern could dip down the depth chart to its third-stringer, with usual starter Shai Werts iffy and immediate backup Justin Tomlin out. What tips the scales to the Bulldogs is a healthier set of running backs and coach Skip Holtz’s 6-0 straight-up record in bowls, the last three as an underdog.

Unless something changes in terms of players available, I just can’t see how this game goes Under. Not only do the matchups favor both offenses, both teams have hit the Over more than the Under this season.

The Eagles are flat out monsters on the ground. They are averaging 262.5 yards per game on the ground in a modified option system out of the spread. Meanwhile, Louisiana Tech ranks ninth in Conference USA in rushing defense at 184.56 yards per game and has given up 22 rushing touchdowns — second-most in the conference. This is just a bad matchup for the Bulldogs.
