Miami-Ohio has been bought down several points from the opening line of +10. There’s a main reason for this as Army backers are finally seeing a spot that gives. The independent Knights have covered five consecutive games including a blowout win over MAC opponent Buffalo. Yet Miami-Ohio defends the run well and also can milk drives effectively offensively. Talk about a losing streak -- it’s 23 and counting for Miami against non-conference FBS foes. Many defeats happened against Power Five members, but Army is no slouch, having breezed last Saturday by 49 points. Plus, the Black Knights have dodged ATS defeat in their prior four home dates. The spread dipped in part because RB Fred Cooper was booted from the team this week, but his snaps had steadily declined.

It's safe to say that Army has recovered nicely since its loss to Oklahoma a few weeks ago, posting back-to-back strong defensive efforts, in addition to racking up the points on offense. The Redhawks have gotten better as of late on the defensive side of the ball, which is HUGE in this game. Despite their 3-4 record, Miami (OH) is a solid team in the MAC, so I can understand why this spread is the way it is. The problem is that Army is starting to find its rhythm defensively, especially in the secondary, which they'll need one again in this ball game.
