Florida State started the season with national-title aspirations, and now it stands nearly zero chance of even competing for the ACC title. About the biggest milestone it can achieve in the short term is beating rival Miami on Saturday night. Mark Richt's Hurricanes have looked explosive on offense and nowhere as soft on defense as their recent predecessors. They handled Georgia Tech’s triple option well last week, but Florida State will provide more problems than any opponent they’ve faced. I think Florida State prevents a total free fall by handing Miami its first loss.

I've yet to see the proper reversal from oddsmakers on an obviously hindered Florida State team. The Seminoles have historically struggled with Miami, even when they won the national title a few years back.
