The fourth-seeded Hawks are dangerous in this CAA Tournament because they're a different team than they were for most of the season. In early February, the NCAA cleared senior point guard Kavion McClain after investigating him for a possible rules violation prior to enrolling at Monmouth. In eight games with McClain, who previously played at Abilene Christian and Texas Southern, Monmouth is 6-2 with the losses coming to the conference's top two teams. Included in that stretch is a 93-73 dismantling of Drexel. McClain is not a role player: He's averaging 17.6 points and 5.3 assists in 34.6 minutes per game. The fifth-seeded Dragons opened their tournament Saturday by beating last-place Northeastern by seven. Back the Hawks to advance to the semis and cover.
