The Dons lost their leading scorer from last season but return seven players with experience. They also added five transfers from the portal. This is a new look Memphis team with no one returning from last year’s squad. They hit the portal hard with a bunch of proven players highlighted by Sincere Parker from McNeese State and Dug McDaniel from Kansas State. However, Memphis owns a 22-game winning streak in home openers. The Tigers have experienced players to match along with home court advantage here.

Memphis owes me, dawg, after the football team just laid a major egg on Thursday night. That definitely stung. This is the season opener for Memphis and obviously a not-ideal fairly early start time for West Coast San Francisco in a random one-game trip. I will say this: The Dons have the best-named player in college basketball if not all of sports in Legend Smiley. That dude's parents both blessed him but assured daily fights on the playground and it needs to be an Adam Sandler "villain" name like Shooter. USF might cover but I really don't think wins this tough trip. Seems about 50 cents low to me.
