Coach Andrew Toole has done a great job for Robert Morris this year after finishing 10-22 last year and they turned things around not only to be first place in the Horizon League this year but also became the best cover team in college basketball at 24-6. That's how quickly things can turn around for teams now. Oakland finished 16-17 with two losses to Robert Morris who had four new starters this year. The Colonials had a 76-69 average score this season. The spread should be about a point and a half higher. Robert Morris to cover.
The home team of the Pittsburgh Airport, RMU, and its coach, Andy Toole, have been here before after several Big Dance trips while campaigning in the NEC. The Colonials suggested they're ready for the Horizon tourney when rolling past Wright State 83-62 in the quarterfinals with the usual balanced effort featuring five DD scorers led by classy senior G Kam Woods, who scored 19 after reviving his career at Moon Township following a peripatetic career (Woods scored 17.3 ppg two years ago at NC A&T). Note Greg Kampe's Oakland has won four of five including a road win in the quarterfinals at Milwaukee, but the Golden Grizzlies were inconsistent with 3-balls all season (just 30.4%). Play RMU (Horizon at Indianapolis).
Robert Morris was the class of a very difficult Horizon League and they are experts at winning close games, including two over Oakland already this season. They have won 8 straight games, all by 5 or more, but both games with Oakland were tough so I am going ML here. Oakland struggles to score the ball, and ultimately I don't think they can hang with the Colonials. Robert Morris has covered 14 of its last 15 games. Oakland has covered 5 of its last 12. RM shot 17/35 from 3 in the two meetings and won the rebound battle in both. Let's go for three in a row.
