Purdue's first place in the Big Ten and have won 11 of their last 12 games, including four straight. They're only half-game ahead of Michigan, who they played on January 24th and blew them out 91-64 in West Lafayette. Purdue is looking for their third straight regular-season Big Ten title and they're doing it in the same fashion with lights out shooting at 49.7 percent, fourth-best in the country. Purdue was Michigan's last loss, but what happened at Minnesota when they lost 84-81 as 10.5-point favorites? Michigan hasn't covered their last seven games. Purdue to win.
Purdue has been absolutely scorching offensively during its current four-game winning streak, but its edge here might actually come from the defensive side. The Boilermakers rank No. 1 in turnover percentage defense in Big Ten play and No. 1 in steal percentage defense, per KenPom. Meanwhile, Michigan has the No. 18 turnover percentage offense in the conference (last place) and No. 16 steal percentage offense. The Wolverines create all kinds of mismatches with their twin tower 7-footers, but the guard play liability could be problem against Purdue’s perimeter defenders. Michigan is certainly out for revenge after losing 91-64 in West Lafayette three weeks ago, but motivation and adjustments can only make up so much of that large margin in the rematch.
