Two teams with a long layoff will meet today as Hofstra hosts South Florida. South Florida already has two bad losses on the season against Central Michigan and Maine. Look for corrections to have been made over the last week of practice. Additionally, Hofstra does leave the door open as they did on the same spread their last game against High Point. Take South Florida.
South Florida has two terrible losses this early in the year. We are dealing with small sample sizes. USF has been horrendous from three point range but I know they have far better shooters. That doesn't mean they go down in this game but I would love to bet they finish the year ranked closer to 150 than their current rank of 358. Hofstra has an excellent team but I think the roster for South Florida is a better one. Hofstra by two.
Hey, we stay under -200! Always the goal. KenPom ranks Hofstra about 40 spots higher and Massey 103 higher. USF should be a LOT better annually in football and men's hoops with such a great location in Tampa, although many locals still consider it a commuter school. It's the first road game for the Bulls. Hofstra comes off winning the Gulf Coast Showcase in Florida last week. The Pride defeated Buffalo, Wright State and High Point in the three-day tournament. Hofstra should have the best two players on the floor in Tyler Thomas (No. 2 nationally at 25.0 ppg) and Darlinstone Dubar (18.3 ppg), one of the great names in hoops. Arguably the best I can remember was former seldom-used Virginia guard Majestic Mapp.
