Six consecutive outright wins have lifted the Panthers to the top of the ACC, yet the oddsmakers are showing skepticism with this surprisingly high spot. Virginia Tech is reeling from a loss to lowly Georgia Tech. Both sides are solid defensively. What separates them is Pitt’s effective attack and balanced scoring. An outright upset would hardly be a surprise.

This is a good buy-low spot on the Hokies, who lost at Georgia Tech on Wednesday while shooting 41.1 percent. Virginia Tech had shot better than 50 percent in five of its previous six games. At home, the Hokies have knocked off Virginia, Duke and Syracuse in the past few weeks. The Panthers have won six straight, but the metrics say they're only slightly better than Virginia Tech. Look for the home team to improve to 5-0-1 ATS in the past six meetings.
