Understanding Public and Money

Think of 'Public' as the percentage of people betting on each side and 'Money' as how much money is being bet. When there's a big difference between the 'Public' and 'Money' data, it usually means that the more serious bettors (referred to as 'Sharp Money') are favoring a particular side.

Larry's Analysis:

The Blue Devils are 1-3 in true road games, winning at Boston College by a point and losing by eight or more in three other ACC venues. This is a desperation spot for Virginia Tech, which has lost seven straight -- five of those by five or fewer points. It's the Hokies' longest skid in eight years. Jeremy Roach is back for Duke, but Hunter Cattoor has returned for Virginia Tech. In last year's ACC Tournament final, Cattoor poured in 31 points on 11-of-16 shooting in a 15-point win over Duke. Look for the senior guard to play a big role in Blacksburg, Va., tonight.

Chip's Analysis:

This is a buy-low opportunity for Duke just as the team appears to be rounding into form in Year 1 with Jon Scheyer. The return of Jeremy Roach to the lineup brought a steadying presence that helped the Blue Devils beat a good Miami team and will be crucial in a tricky road spot against Virginia Tech. The Hokies are capable of winning here but are currently in a bad spot, having lost seven straight games after starting 11-1. I like the chances of this game coming down to the final possessions, so there's great value with Duke.
