I think that Wisconsin has what it takes to get this cover against Iowa State. ISU only won because LSU was in complete disarray and I'm not sure that Wisconsin will allow for that same type of offensive performance. This game is in Milwaukee and is basically a home game. Lay the 4 points.
I'll admit that I didn't expect Iowa State to beat LSU in Round 1. I think that was more on LSU (coaching change deflated not energized) and not the Cyclones. Wisconsin is just so fundamentally good -- it leads the nation with the least turnovers per game averaging just 8.4 per contest -- and basically has home-court advantage in Milwaukee.
This is basically a home game for the Badgers. Once they settled in, the Badgers played great against Colgate. The Cyclones are not a great team and should get exposed against an experienced Badgers team. This spread is for a neutral court game, but the Badgers will be playing a home game. Their nerves should be gone and they should dominate this game.
The Cyclones had lost three straight entering the NCAA Tournament, and their five-point win over LSU did not convince me they're back to mid-season form. Iowa State's turnaround is a great story, but the team has averaged 51 points over its last four games. Wisconsin almost never turns over the ball. It has three reliable scorers led by Johnny Davis, the All-American who scored the Badgers' last 14 points versus Colgate. After surviving 10 Colgate 3-pointers but failing to cover Friday, look for Wisconsin to cover this middling number as Iowa State's Cinderella season ends.
