I like the Phillies tonight in what is a lopsided matchup on paper between two teams headed in opposite directions. After struggling to start the season, Zack Wheeler has been very solid over the last two months and is currently sitting on 16 quality starts this season. Nationals pitcher Trevor Williams has gotten lit up in three previous outings against the Phillies this season. I expect the Phillies to pour in plenty of runs and win this game by at least 2+ runs.

The Phillies are set to take on the Nationals tonight with Zack Wheeler on the mound. Wheeler has been excellent this season and has pitched particularly well recently having racked up seven consecutive quality starts. He will face a Nationals lineup that has the seventh lowest OPS (.699) against opposing right handed pitchers. Wheeler will be opposed by Trevor Williams who has a 5.20 ERA and has been dreadful surrendering 20 earned runs over his previous four outings while only pitching 5+ innings once. This is a serious mismatch and look for the Phillies to roll tonight.

The Phillies have played in three straight slugfests and the offense just exploded for 12 runs in the last three innings Saturday. This is an enigmatic -- often boom-or-bust -- group, though, and keep in mind they had zero runs through six innings Saturday. It feels like an "even out" spot here on getaway day. Plus, Zack Wheeler goes for the Phillies and I like him to dominate the Nats. It's a contrarian play, but I'm feeling under.
