Napoli secured a 2-0 victory on the road in the first leg, and I think the hosts will record another resounding victory over Eintracht Frankfurt on Wednesday. Napoli have won six of their last seven games across all competitions, winning each by at least two goals. Napoli have also scored three or more goals in all three of their Champions League fixtures on home soil this season. Frankfurt will need to press early and often to erase a two goal deficit, which will leave space for Napoli’s dynamic duo of Victor Osimhen and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia to exploit. Plus, Frankfurt will be without Randal Kolo Muani, who’s recorded 11 goals and 10 assists in league play, on Wednesday.
Napoli have scored 22 goals in their seven Champions League matches, while Frankfurt have scored seven in this campaign. The Italians are unbeaten in their past 11 UCL matches at home and have scored at least three goals in each to win all three this time around. Napoli are 11-1-1 at Stadio Maradona in league play, with a 33-9 goal advantage. Frankfurt won’t have any fans to cheer them on in the road match, and with a 2-0 deficit against the Serie A leaders, they might lack fire. I expect Napoli to win in a rout, though I’d take a simple 2-1 victory.
Napoli are one of the top handful of teams in the world. Frankfurt, at their best, are one of the top five teams in Germany. Napoli’s goal difference per match puts them right between Bayern Munich and PSG as the fifth best side in Europe’s top five leagues. Frankfurt have the fifth best goal difference in the Bundesliga. On top of that Frankfurt are missing their best player in Randal Kolo Muani who has either scored or assisted on 21 out of Frankfurt’s 45 Bundesliga goals. He picked up a red card in the first leg. And Napoli are not the type of team to sit on a two goal lead, they just seem like they have too much fun scoring goals for each other.
I do not believe in Frankfurt's ability to score in this match. Frankfurt are a side that prides itself on showing up for its fans, but due to rule-breaking in the first leg, all Frankfurt fans have been banned from attending this second leg. Morale will be non-existent for a Frankfurt side that's down 2-0 in aggregate. I very easily could see a repeat of the 2-0 score in this second leg.
Frankfurt are in a very ugly spot right now. On top of losing their best goal-scorer, Kolo Muani, to a red card in the first leg, they've now had all fans banned from attending the second leg of their matchup against Napoli. After dominating the first leg, Napoli will look to take out some aggression on a pitiful Frankfurt side.
