Understanding Public and Money

Think of 'Public' as the percentage of people betting on each side and 'Money' as how much money is being bet. When there's a big difference between the 'Public' and 'Money' data, it usually means that the more serious bettors (referred to as 'Sharp Money') are favoring a particular side.

Jim's Analysis:

City will come out firing at the Etihad, where they are 21-2-0 in their past 23 UCL matches. They also have won nine straight home games in the competition against German clubs. Leipzig have lost three straight on the road against English foes. Leipzig are just 4-4-4 on the road in league play, conceding 19 goals in 11 matches. City are 11-1-1 at home in their EPL matches, with a plus-30 goal differential. Leipzig showed their grit in the first leg, but this should be a different match altogether. Leipzig should scrape out a goal, but the hosts should come away with an emphatic victory.

Mike's Analysis:

Manchester City were the better side in the first leg against RB Leipzig, but they weren’t better by as much as you would expect them to be. That doesn’t mean that City are likely to lose the home leg against the German side, but it does mean that City continue to fall prey to the same habit of being overly conservative in the Champions League, prioritizing control of the game over scoring goals. Expect City to control the game, expect them to have most of the ball, expect Leipzig to have very few chances to score, but also expect City to patiently wait for one or two good chances to put the tie away. It’s the Pep Guardiola way.

Martin's Analysis:

Premier League champion Manchester City looks capable of covering a 1.5-goal handicap when it hosts RB Leipzig at the Etihad Stadium. The match finished 1-1 when these teams met in Leipzig for the first leg of their Round of 16 showdown a few weeks ago. However, Man City should be a lot more dominant in front of its home fans. Pep Guardiola’s men have built up an impressive winning streak, and star player Kevin De Bruyne will be fresh after he sat out against Crystal Palace over the weekend. Leipzig undoubtedly has quality players within its ranks, but City deserves its status as the favorite, and it should secure a reasonably comfortable win.
