The Boston Celtics have managed to stay competitive despite superstar Jayson Tatum missing the season injured. The same can't be said for the Dallas Mavericks after the infamous trade of Luka Doncic, although rookie sensation Cooper Flagg has at least made the team watchable. Flagg goes head-to-head with Boston's Jaylen Brown and the Celtics on Tuesday, and the SportsLine Projection Model, which simulates every game 10,000 times, has a strong lean for the game. It has the Over hitting in 64.6% of its simulations, good for an 'A' grade.
The NHL will soon be taking a break, with major stars headed to Italy for the Olympics, but there's still some consequential games on the docket before then. One of them is Tuesday's Pittsburgh Penguins vs. New York Islanders matchup. Pittsburgh and New York are second and third, respectively, in the Metropolitan Division, meaning this game could be important for future playoff seeding down the line. The Penguins are 7-1-2 in their last 10 games, while the Islanders have lost two straight. The Pens will be without star defenseman Kris Letang, who was placed on injured reserve on Saturday. The SportsLine model expects an extremely tight game and recommends backing Pittsburgh on the money line.
