Michigan lost its No. 1 ranking to Duke following a defeat at the hands of the Blue Devils, but the Wolverines remain one of the best teams in the country and hold first place in the Big Ten standings. A trip to Champaign will be difficult, though, as the Fighting Illini are dangerous. The Wolverines will smell blood in the water, as Illinois has dropped three of its last five games, including its most recent outing, a one-point loss at UCLA. The SportsLine Projection Model, which simulates every game 10,000 times, expects a return to winning ways for Illinois. The Illini cover in 75% of the model's simulations and win outright in 72%.
With the Oklahoma City Thunder nursing injuries to star players, the Detroit Pistons may well be the best team in the NBA right now. The Pistons have won eight of their last 10 games and have a true MVP candidate in guard Cade Cunningham. But the Cleveland Cavaliers are just as hot and come to Detroit looking to make a statement on Friday. The model expects a tight game and doesn't have a strong lean, with the Under's 52.1% hit rate across the simulations being the most common outcome.
