UFC Freedom 250 preview

The main event will be personal when Ilia Topuria, the current lightweight champion, and interim champ Justin Gaethje battle in a unification bout. The two have traded the usual barbs, but comments that brought their families into the discourse have ramped up the animosity. The 27-year-old Topuria is 17-0 in his MMA career (9-0 in UFC) and has finished 15 by knockout or submission. Gaethje, 37, is a knockout specialist, with 20 of his 27 victories coming by KO/TKO. Topuria earned the lightweight championship with a first-round knockout of Charles Oliveira in the main event at UFC 317 in June 2025. That was his third consecutive victory by KO, and he has a knockdown in six straight fights, the longest active streak in UFC. Gaethje (27-5-0) won the interim title over Paddy Pimblett by unanimous decision at UFC 324 in January. DraftKings lists Topuria as the -500 favorite, and the Over/Under for total rounds is 1.5 (Over -110, Under -120). Topuria is heavily favored at -225 to win by KO/TKO and is +400 to win by submission. Gaethje to win by knockout is the +600 third choice.

Ciryl Gane's last fight was called no contest after current heavyweight title holder Tom Aspinall was poked in the eye. The champion is unable to compete this weekend, so Gane and Alex Pereira will meet for the interim title in hopes of unifying it down the line. Pereira, 38, is a two-division champion and is 13-3 in his career (10-2 in UFC), with 11 of his victories by knockout. The Brazilian has beaten six former UFC champions. Gane, 36, is 13-2-1 (10-2 in UFC) with six wins by KO/TKO and three via submission. Gane is the No. 1-ranked heavyweight, while Pereira is No. 2 at light heavyweight and looks to become the only fighter to win titles in three divisions. DraftKings oddsmakers are expecting a competitive fight. Both fighters are priced at -110 on the money line, with Over 2.5 rounds is favored at -166. Pereira by knockout is the favored outcome at +150, but Gane is +300 to win by that method and +275 to earn the decision. Pereira by decision is +650.

Fan favorite Sean O'Malley has been in a bit of a funk, losing two of his past three fights, and now he faces a fighter who has won seven in a row. O'Malley will take on Aiemann Zahabi in a bantamweight fight, and while the 38-year-old Canadian has been on a roll, O'Malley is favored to stop his streak. O'Malley, 31, is a former UFC bantamweight champion and took a unanimous decision over Song Yadong at January's UFC 324 to snap a two-fight losing streak. O'Malley is a heavy -440 favorite in the DraftKings odds, and the Montana native to win by decision (+100) or knockout (+185) are the favored results.

Another heavyweight bout will pit Josh Hokit against Derrick Lewis, who is 29-13 in his MMA career with 24 knockouts. Hokit, 29, is 9-0 to begin his career and has five knockouts. The 29-year-old Hokit is strongly favored to win by KO/TKO, with the price set at -115. The DraftKings odds give the 41-year-old Lewis a literal puncher's chance, as he's priced at +440 to win by the same method. Hokit to win by decision is the +300 second option, and Under 1.5 rounds also is heavily favored at -210, with Under priced at +300.

A lightweight bout against 40-year-old Michael Chandler is a chance for Mauricio Ruffy, 29, to get some attention. Ruffy is 13-2 in his MMA career, while Chandler is 23-10 and has lost four of his past five fights. Ruffy has a 92% knockout rate (12 wins) in his career and has won eight of his past nine. Ruffy is priced at a massive -675 to win, and a knockout victory for the Brazilian is the most likely outcome, with DraftKings setting those odds at -250.

Bo Nickal and Kyle Daukaus are likely to spend a lot of time on the mat in their middleweight bout. Nickal (8-1) and has four victories by submission in his career, and Daukaus (14-2) has won by that method 12 times. The 30-year-old Nickal has won three times by KO, and that is the most likely outcome, according to DraftKings. Nickal is -360 to win, and a victory via knockout/TKO (+200) or decision (+240) are the favored outcomes, with submission priced at +380 and Daukaus most likely to win via submission (+550).

In a featherweight bout, second-ranked  Diego Lopes could face a tough challenge Sunday against ninth-ranked Steve Garcia. Lopes is 27-8 and has won six of his last eight fights, with both losses to featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski. Garcia has won seven straight fights and is 19-5, with 15 of his victories via KO. Lopes is the -155 favorite and the fight is favored to go Under 1.5 rounds (-140). Someone just might be getting knocked out, with Garcia +240 to win by KO/TKO and Lopes +250 to do the same. Lopes by decision (+350) or submission (+380) are the other top choices. Click here to get started at DraftKings and earn $200 in bonus bets with a wining $5 wager:
