Best bets for Friday, Feb. 13

The No. 10 Michigan State Spartans don't get much of a break after a rough stretch that saw them lose two in a row then win a tough overtime battle. Now they visit a Wisconsin team that has won eight of its past 10 and comes off an overtime victory against a ranked Illinois team. The Badgers (17-7) beat No. 8 Illinois 92-90 on Tuesday, three days after the Spartans (20-4) pulled out an 85-82 OT victory against that same Illini team, then ranked fifth. Michigan State has been off since then, so it will be more rested, but the Badgers are 12-2 at home. Wisconsin allows 75.8 points per game, 14th in the Big Ten, while MSU yields just 65.6 (second), but the Badgers score four more points per game. The Spartans are 1.5-point road favorites in the latest Michigan State vs. Wisconsin odds, and the Over/Under is set at 145.5. The SportsLine Projection Model has the Badgers covering the spread in 59% of its simulations, good for a "B" grade.

The 23rd-ranked Miami Redhawks are the last unbeaten team in Division I and score more points than any team in the nation. Miami (24-0) averages 92.7 points per game, and while it hasn't been great defensively, it is outscoring opponents by 18.4 points per game, eighth-best in the nation. The Bobcats (13-12) score just under 78 points an give up just over 77, sitting in the bottom half of the Mid-American Conference in both, with just a plus-0.4 point differential. Ohio has lost three of its past five games, including a 78-72 setback to Old Dominion on Saturday. The Redhawks cruised to a 90-74 victory against Marshall, also on Saturday, so the teams should be well-rested. The Redhawks are 10.5-point home favorites in the Miami vs. Ohio odds, and the SportsLine model has a "B" grade on Miami to cover the spread, as it does so in 62% of its simulations.
