2022 World Cup soccer odds: Christian Pulisic, USA taking huge action to beat Iran, advance to knockout round

It's all on the line for USA soccer today vs. Iran in the World Cup.

The 2022 World Cup will come to an end for the United States today if they don't beat Iran. The Group B match starts Tuesday at 2 p.m. ET in Qatar. Not many bettors at BetMGM think the Americans will lose, though, as they are taking 90% of the money on the moneyline at +100 (opened at +110) and 83% of bets. That the match ends in a draw is +230 and has taken 7% of bets and 4% of money.

England leads Group B with four points and will advance with a win over draw vs. Wales, which is also at 2 p.m. ET. The Three Lions also likely will move on even with a loss. Wales has to win to have any shot. The Iranians are second with three points and will advance with a win. A draw would also work as long as Wales doesn't upset England and then goal differential would come into play. The USMNT only advances with a win.

Team USA qualified from its group in each of its last two World Cup appearances (2010 and 2014) and have lost only one of their last eight World Cup group stage matches (W2 D5)

"USA is currently BetMGM's biggest liability to win the World Cup. While we're personally fans, winning it would be a tough outcome for the book, that said, as they advance, we're seeing more betting action than ever," said Christian Cipollini, Sports Trader at the book.

The most-wagered prop for the match is American star Christian Pulisic for an anytime goal at +230 – he hasn't scored yet but did put a shot off the crossbar in the draw vs. England. That both teams score is the No. 2 prop in terms of action with Yes at +105. Over 2.5 goals (+125) is also taking heavy money. Iran's defense-heavy style suggests it would be happy to play for a draw against the USA.

Iran and the United States have met in the World Cup once: In 1998 in France, a 2-1 win by the Iranians that eliminated the Americans from the tournament. Iran has never qualified for the Round of 16 and this will be the country's sixth attempt.

For Team Melli, Ahmad Noorollahi and Saeid Ezatolahi were hurt against Wales and had to be replaced. It is not yet clear if they will be available for Tuesday's game. Goalkeeper Alireza Beiranvand likely will be out after picking up an injury against England in the opening match.
