News that Connor Hellebuyck will be out 4-6 weeks is tough news for WInnipeg. Still, Hellebuyck isn't all that the Jets have going for them, with both Mark Scheifle (11 goals, 27 points) and Kyle Connor (11 goals, 24 points) in the midst of big seasons, not to mention wins ins ix of the last eight at home. Backup Eric Comrie has been more than serviceable in goal, too, with wins inf our of his five starts, along with a GAA at 2.60 and saves at .908. The Canes apparently go with backup Brandon Bussi in goal, and have been involved in overtimes/shootouts in three of their last four as they alternate wins and losses in their last five. I'll happily take the Jets +1 at home if Connor Hellebuyck is starting, he is usually so good on home ice. Actually got lucky in Winnipeg's last game because he was projected to start but Eric Comrie did. We won anyways. But that definitely means it will be Buyck on Friday. Carolina has lost three of five. Basically this is me thinking at worst we push outside of an empty-netter. The Jets have won two straight overall and three in a row at home. UPDATE: Hellebuyck is now out 4-6 weeks, somewhat out of nowhere (which may affect Team USA in the Olympics), so I'm cashing out of this game; the Jets still may cover/win but don't like it nearly as much.
