Kudos to the schedule-makers who made sure new Rangers coach Mike Sullivan gets to face the Penguins team on opening night. Dan Muse has taken his place with Pittsburgh, who have been desperately holding onto some vestiges of the glory days like Sidney Crosby (who has produced three straight 90+-point seasons), but like the past couple of years there are questions all over the ice and in the nets for the Pens. The Rangers are a great candidate to snap back this season, not only with Sullivan behind the bench, but improved defense in front of Igor Shesterkin now that Vladislav Gavrikov has been added from the Kings. Play the Rangers on Puck Line.
Will grab this now just in case we lose -1 for Tuesday's opener. Rangers star Artemi Panarin missed another preseason game today injured but is expected to be ready. New York's new coach is Mike Sullivan, former long-time coach in Pittsburgh. Don't think the Pens will make much noise this year again, and it might be time to think about trading Sidney Crosby and/or Evgeni Malkin for prospects. Pittsburgh missed the NHL playoffs for the third consecutive season last year. It was also the first time the Penguins fell below .500 since the 2005-06 season. Big edge in net here to NYR with Igor Shesterkin (3-1, 2.08 GAA last year in series).
