The Coyotes enter with a three-game winning streak during which they've allowed a total of three goals. The Sharks have lost three in a row, scoring just three times during the skid. But Arizona has dropped three straight on the road and San Jose has gone 6-2-1 over its last nine at home. I like the Sharks to avenge last week's 1-0 loss in the desert.
Would have preferred No. 1 Connor Ingram in net for Arizona, but backup Karel Vejmelka has pitched back-to-back shutouts so we should still be fine as he faces the league's worst offense by far. San Jose's Mackenzie Blackwood has been significantly better at home (not saying good or anything but better).
Belying the price on tonight's matchup at the Shark Tank, it's interesting to note that San Jose has a better home record (6-7-1) than Arizona does on the road (5-8-2). True, the Sharks offense has once again stalled in the current three-game skid, scoring just three goals in the process, but goaltending has improved lately for the Sharks, too, and Kaapo Kahkonen did stop 23 of 24 Arizona shots in Tempe last Friday during a 1-0 loss. We won't blame the Yotes for their recent loss at Boston, but they also fell to the Sabres and Penguins in their recent winless road trip. Paly Sharks on Money Line
Just as quickly as the Sharks offense awakened a few weeks ago with a blistering succession of high-scoring efforts, the pucks have once again stopped flying in the net for San Jose, which was having horrific issues scoring goals the first month--plus of the season. Now,. just five goals in four games, the last three of those being losses. Goalie work has generally been good, however, and Kaapo Kahkonen stopped 23 of 24 Yotes shots last Friday in Phoenix. That scoreline landed 1-0, so don't expect a lot of fireworks tonight in the Tank. Play Coyotes-Sharks "Under"
