The Rangers look awfully good so far and the Jets haven't played yet, but New York is starting backup Jaroslav Halak in the second of a back-to-back. He's not awful but certainly a downgrade from Igor Shesterkin, so we'll roll with the Jets as they were pretty good at home last season. While New York did win Thursday at Minnesota, it is 3-9 in its past 12 away.

I do think the Rangers have a bit of an advantage having played two games before the Jets played one, but they are also on the second end of a back-to-back today for the first time this season, and they have their backup goalie playing for the first time this season. The Jets were very hit or miss last season, but this is their home opener and they play much better at home while the Rangers are much worse on the road. I like the Jets to win their opener.
